The core of our business is developing and delivering ecological models.
We lead the research, development and support of a free modeling framework, called SyncroSim, for delivering scientific forecasts to decision makers.
Our flagship application within SyncroSim is called ST-Sim. ST-Sim is a stochastic simulation model for projecting landscape change, including both vegetation dynamics and land use/land cover change. We have applied ST-Sim to a wide range of systems, including forests, grasslands, rangelands and wetlands. We have also used ST-Sim as the foundation for developing models to project other key ecological services, including ecosystem carbon, timber supply and wildlife habitat.
A second major focus area for us is the development of wildlife population models. We have developed models for a range of wildlife species, including caribou, muskox and moose; we are also actively involved in the development of an energetics model for barren-ground caribou. Much of this work is also supported by our SyncroSim modeling framework.
Finally we are pioneers in the development of models of wildlife habitat connectivity.
