Ecological Modeling

The core of our business is developing transparent, state-of-the-art models in support of ecological forecasting. We work closely with our clients and other experts to translate their ecological understanding into appropriate models.

Our major areas of focus include modeling land cover and vegetation change, fire behavior, population dynamics of animals and disease, and ecosystem services such as carbon, animal habitat and habitat connectivity. We also specialize in integrating big data (including spatial data) and uncertainty into our model forecasts.

As part of our commitment to open science, the source code for our models is generally published online; many of our models are also accompanied by peer-reviewed publications developed collaboratively with our clients.
