Path Landscape Model Framework

The Nature Conservancy, U.S. Forest Service, LANDFIRE Project

The purpose of the Path Landscape Model Framework is to assist land managers in predicting how vegetation may change over time in response to natural and anthropogenic change.

Path Screen Capture

The tool uses state-and-transition models to simulate vegetation conditions on a landscape into the future by considering the interaction between succession, natural disturbances and management.

Path has been designed and developed jointly by two firms, Apex Resource Management Solutions and  ESSA Technologies, and represents the latest in a lineage of landscape vegetation models that includes both VDDT and TELSA. Its ongoing development has been generously supported by several agencies, including The Nature Conservancy, the U.S. Forest Service and the LANDFIRE project.
